GLS Girls College is running an NCC unit affiliated with 1 Guj. Girls Battalion, Law Garden Ahmedabad. Major Ulupi Rathod is ANO (Associated NCC Officer) of the unit. NCC unit is rich with total strength of 55 cadets, included of all the three years cadets.
NCC, the world’s largest uniformed organization, holds the motto of ‘Unity and Discipline’ and plays a significant role in shaping the cadets. GLS (Sadguna & B.D) College for Girls has a proud history of NCC achievements, and the tradition continues in the year 2022-23.
The year commenced with the celebration of International Yoga Day in the NCC unit. Cadets actively participated in this event, promoting the importance of yoga for physical and mental well-being.
In an effort to contribute to the environment, cadets organized a plantation drive on the riverfront. They planted trees, aiming to enhance the green cover and raise awareness about the importance of conservation.
Cadets commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas by organizing a special event. They delivered speeches, paying tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
A rally with the Indian flag, called Tiranga, was organized by the 1st Gujarat Girls Battalion NCC. Our college cadets participated with great enthusiasm, displaying their patriotic spirit.
The NCC unit played a pivotal role in the Tiranga Daud rally, emphasizing the importance of the national flag. Our cadets actively participated, demonstrating their dedication to national pride.
As part of their commitment to community service, NCC cadets collected plastic waste to contribute to the cause of environmental preservation. The waste was handed over to the 1st Gujarat Girls Battalion NCC for proper disposal and recycling.
Cadets showcased their knowledge and ideas on two significant topics: ‘Save Rivers’ on World River Day (26th September 2022) and ‘Quit India’ (3rd September 2022). These presentations aimed to raise awareness and promote discussions on these crucial issues.
The annual celebration of India’s Republic Day was held in the main campus of GLS. The entire flag hoisting ceremony was conducted by the girls’ cadets of our college, showcasing their leadership and patriotism.
Cadets actively engaged in various social services, including cleaning the college premises, promoting adult education, and participating in tree plantation drives across different locations. These activities demonstrated their commitment to community welfare.
Throughout the year, cadets underwent rigorous training in various disciplines, including drill, firing, map-reading, and field and battle craft. They also participated in camps organized by the battalion, further enhancing their skills and knowledge.
Fifteen cadets appeared for the B certificate exam on 7th and 12th February, while twenty cadets appeared for the C certificate exam on 14th and 19th February 2023. These exams tested their proficiency and understanding of NCC principles.
To foster creativity and awareness, various activities such as elocution and poster making competitions were organized on topics like ‘Save Environment,’ ‘Har Ghar Tiranga,’ and ‘Earth Day’ during the academic year. These activities allowed cadets to express their thoughts and ideas effectively.
NCC cadets wholeheartedly participated in the cleaning initiatives near water bodies.
